Early Life
The senior pastor was born in El Campo, Wharton County in Texas in a family of three, as the last born. He joined Charles H. Milby High School, Houston. During his high school, Charles developed an interest in music and learned to play almost all the instruments. He was even an orchestra member and participated in the school’s music band. After graduating from high school, Charles studied mechanical engineering.
Personal Life
In the early ‘50s, Charles met Cynthia Ann Parker, a pianist, and the two started dating. On June 18th, 1955, Swindoll asked Cynthia for a hand in marriage. The couple is blessed with four children.
Career
Charles’s career in the work of God started in 1963 when he was ordained. The senior pastor served in Dallas for about two years under the leadership of J. Dwight Pentecost. Later, Charles held senior positions in the ministry around Texas, California, Fullerton, Waltham, and Massachusetts.
The celebrated pastor launched Insight for Living, a program that delivers shows to radio stations around the world. The plays are usually translated to over 15 languages across the globe. Today, Charles works as the chancellor of Dallas Theological Seminary, a career that he started as the President in 1994.
Charles is also a celebrated author having published over 70 books. Also, he is the founder of Stonebriar Community Church. The church started in Collin College before shifting to Legendary Drive. The church is well-known for its mission work in places such as India.
