Henry Lawrence Garfield Rollins is a radio host on KRW Radio and a regular contributor for the Rolling Stones Australia. Henry was the lead vocalist for the State of Alert Band that existed in the 80s and performed as a vocalist in a hardcore punk bank known as Black Flag.
Early Life
Henry Rollins was born in Washington, D.C, to Iris and Paul Garfield. He witnessed his parent’s divorce when he was only age three and was therefore raised by his mother in Glover Park, Washington. He faced many challenges as a child, which included sexual assault.
These challenges had a toll on him mentally with instances of depression and having low self-esteem catching up with him. After completing schooling, he began writing.
Personal Life
Rollins has been quoted saying he does not belong to any religion or spiritual organization. However, he does not view himself as an atheist.
He has no known child and has not been in a relationship since his early 20s. He considers himself as a vegetarian but says the only meat he can eat is fish.
Career
Being a fan of hardcore music, Henry performed in several bands in his 20s and 30s in Washington, D.C. He’s performed with the Black Flag band in Washington D.C and even had a few tours together before the band started facing legal challenges and finally disbanded in 1986.
He went ahead to form his band, The Rollins Band and recruited other band members. His band made more than 100 performances each year during the period they were active.
He also worked as an actor with appearances in movies such as Heat in 1995 and Lost Highway in 1997.
Currently, he works as a radio host, a columnist at Rolling Stones Australia and participates in several charity organizations.
