Early Life

Newton was born on 25 December 1642 at Wools Thorpe Manor in Wools Thorpe-by-Colsterworth. He was named after his father who had died three months prior to his birth. His mother, Hannah Ayscough, attested that he was relatively small than other children and was born prematurely.

He was left in the care of his grandmother after his mother remarried and went to live with her new husband. He disliked the idea of his mother remarrying and thus did not see eye to eye with his stepfather.

He studied in the King’s School at Grantham until he was 17 years of age. Here he was taught Greek, Latin and a bit of mathematics. He had to leave school and went back home where his now widowed mother wanted him to go into farming, which he hated. He was later admitted to Trinity college, Cambridge as recommended by his uncle.

Personal Life

Newton’s personal life is not that clear even though rumors had it that he was once engaged. He certainly never got married though. It was also disclosed that he had no passion for women and any other feelings that other men have.

Career

Newton is credited for advancing and developing theories in both mathematics and physics. He is also one of the people that were the first to develop calculus, which he extensively utilizes in his works. He also developed the binomial theorem. He also formulated the gravitational theorem after an experience when he watched an apple falling from a tree.

Death

Newton died in his sleep on 20 March 1727, leaving his estate to be inherited by his relatives.
