At 24 years of age, Friedrich Nietzsche is known to have held the chair of Classical Philology at the University of Basel, Switzerland in 1869, this made him one of the youngest classic professors to ever live.

Friedrich’s ideas as a writer impacted school Philosophers of the 20th and 21 century in Arts, History, and Literature.

Nietzsche is known for taking up subjects that were considered troublesome.

Early Life

Friedrich Nietzsche was born to Carl Nietzsche and Franziska Nietzsche on October 15th 0f 1844. After his father’s death, who worked at the state, he was offered a scholarship from 1858 to 1864 to study at Schulptorta. He studied Latin, Hebrew, French and Greek languages. He also joined the music and Literature clubs where he worked on his music and poems. 

From the University of Bonn, he graduated in Theology and Classical Philology in September 1864. However, due to his mother’s anger, he dropped the Theological studies hence losing his faith.

Regarded as one of the best riders among his recruits, Nietzsche enlisted in then Prussian Artillery Division in Naumburg. He completed his studies in 1868.

Personal Life

Friedrich Nietzscheproposed to Lou Salome thrice but they never married.

Career

At only 24 years and having not achieved a teaching certificate, Friedrich Nietzsche received an offer to work as a Professor in the University of Basel in Switzerland in 1869. He served in the Prussian Forces between 1870 and 1871 even after renouncing his Prussian Citizenship.

Between the years of 1873 and 1876, he published notes that had accumulated as essays. His writing was considered revolutionary, which brought about the foundation of a European Cultural Rebirth.

Until his death, he worked as an Independent Author.

Death

Friedrich contacted Pneumonia in mid-August 1900, suffered a stroke between 24 – 25th August at night and later on died on the noon of August 25th, 1900. His sister Elizabeth Nietzsche published his unpublished notebooks after his death.
