Francis Bacon, the statesman, and philosopher is known for his contribution to the scientific revolution. His philosophy work was much used during the development of scientific methods.

Early Life

Francis Bacon was born and raised in London. His father was Lord Keeper of the Seal while his mother, Anne Cooke Bacon, was the daughter of Edward’s VI’s tutor (Sir Anthony Cooke). Bacon started his college at the age of 12 years, where he joined Trinity College. In 1575, the statesman completed his college and enrolled at the Honorable Society of Gray’s Inn for a law program. 

Personal Life

Bacon was a member of Anglican, and who believed the world must be studied well. His arguments could be found through his philosophies. Bacon’s love life started when he was 36 years and started seeing Elizabeth Hatton. Unfortunately, Hatton was snatched away by a rich man. Nine years later, Bacon met and married Alice Barnham. The then 14-year old was the daughter of a well-known MP and London alderman.

Career

After joining Gray’s Inn, Bacon started working under the British ambassador to France, Sir Amyas Paulet. Bacon worked under the ambassador for about three years before he left Paris for home to bury his father. In 1581, the statesman started working in the House of Commons. Later, he was awarded an outer barrister position. 

His political career took a new turn in 1584 when he wrote a letter of advice to Queen Elizabeth. He served in parliament for over forty years. He continued to work his way up until he superseded his father’s rank and becoming the Lord Chancellor. In 1621, Bacon was crowned Viscount St. Albans but was later impeached on corruption grounds. 

Death

After leaving the office, Bacon started performing experiments with ice. The cold weather saw Bacon develop bronchitis, and he died on April 9th 1626, at Lord Arundel’s estate.
