Famously Known For

Ulrich Leonard Tolle is famously known for being the author of two spiritual books: “The Power of Now” and “A New Earth”. Both books were written in 1997 and 2005, respectively.

Early Life

Eckhart Tolle was born in 1948 in a small town north of Dortmund Ruhr valley, Germany. His childhood was unhappy one, and his parent fought regularly, and therefore they ended separated. The hostile school environment made him get alienated.

As a kid, he used to play in bombed-out buildings growing up in post-war Germany. This created fear and anxiety in him, and he mentioned that pain was the energy filed of the country.

When he was 13, he traveled to Spain to stay with his father, and he studied literature, various languages, and astronomy since his father did not insist for him to attend high school.

In his early twenties, he joined University of London to do psychology, philosophy, and literature and after that, he was offered a postgraduate research scholarship and Cambridge, but he soon dropped out in 1977.

Personal Life

At the age of 29, he experienced a life-changing epiphany after a more extended period of depression that was unbearable. There was an inner transformation. Walking the next morning in the streets of London, he found everything including miraculous and deeply peaceful. 

Career

After drop out of Cambridge, he continued to work as a spiritual teacher and counselor to students for five years. 

His first book the power of now was published in 1997. Three thousand copies were first published.  Friends helped him deliver the copies to the nearest bookstores in Vancouver. It was secondly republished large scale in 1999. It has gone to be the New York bestseller list.

He has a company to sell his teachings product and a streaming video Television.
