Dolly Parton was born in Locust Ridge, Tennessee, into a family of twelve siblings. Her family was poor, and with a large number of members, it was not easy to get basic requirements to give them a comfortable life. Her spark in music was ignited by her relatives, including her mother, who played guitar and also sang. She started learning music at an early age and was a frequent performer in church services.

At only ten years old, Dolly Parton had gone professional. She began appearing on local television and radio shows before making her grand entry into the global music space at age 13.

Personal Life

Dolly Parton got married to Carl Thomas in 1966, in Nashville. The couple has been together since then but has not been blessed with any child. However, Dolly Parton acts as the Godmother to Miley Cyrus.

Career

After high school, Dolly Parton moved to Nashville where she only she pursued music. At Nashville, she worked together with Porter Wagoner, who was also a country music star. She then went solo and produced great hits, including “I will always love you” and “Here you come again.” Throughout her music career, Dolly Parton has won numerous awards including being inducted into the Country music hall of fame.

Dolly Parton received her first Grammy award after releasing “here you come again” in 1977, as the best country vocal performance in the female category.

Dolly Parton has also starred in films such as “Steel Magnolias” and “9 to 5”. 9 to 5 marked her debut in cinema in the 1980s, and other films followed.
