David Hockney is remembered as one of the most important contributors to the Pop art movement of the 1960s. Pop art mainly focused on bringing more life to the boring arts found in galleries. It did so by using more color on drawings and paintings.

Early Life

David’s birthplace is at Bradford, England. He attended the Bradford college of art between 1953 and 1957 and later joined the royal college of art in London, between 1959 and 1962. At the royal college, Hockney received a gold medal for emerging top in a graduate competition.

Personal Life

David Hockney is a gay artist, and his love for same-sex relationships can be seen from his Portraiture. He has been romantically involved with Peter Schlesinger, who was an art student at UCLA.

Hockney uses hearing aids because of earing problems that he has and also holds a Marijuana verification card from California, which allows him to get the substance for medicinal purposes.

Career
