Early Life

Bob was born in Duluth, Minnesota and lived with his parents, Abram and Beatrice Zimmerman. He attended Hibbing High School and graduated in 1959. At an early age, Bob was influenced by pop and rock artists like Elvis Presley, Little Richard, and Jerry Lee Lewis. 

He formed his band, Golden Chords, and took the role of a frontman. Bob relocated to New York City in 1960 where he would visit his idol Woody Guthrie who was sick. 

Personal Life

Dylan was romantically involved with Suze Rotolo, an American artist. However, they went separate ways in 1964. Bob, later on, met Joan Baez in a musical concert and fell in love with her. 

The two shared stages and toured together in the Rolling Thunder Revenue. However, the two separated in 1965. Dylan got married to Sara Lownds on November 22, 1965. Their first child was Jesse Byron Dylan. The two divorced later, and he got married to Carolyn Dennis, his back up artist on June 4, 1986.

Career

Bob’s career began after visiting New York. He got signed to Columbia Records in 1961 and the following year; he released his self-titled album, Bob Dylan. In 1963, Bob released ‘The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan,’ which earned him global recognition. Bob Dylan’s album ‘The Times They Are A-Changin,” which became popular among the ’60’s popular movement.’ 

His romantic relationship with Joan Baez, a member of the movement, made him active in the movement as well. Bob wrote songs for Baez, and in return, Baez introduced Bob to her fans through performing together in concerts. In 1965, Bob released two albums; ‘Bringing It All Back Home,’ and ‘Highway 61 Revisited.’ He had a fatal motorcycle accident in July 1966 which forced him to stay away from music for one year. In 1974 Bob went back to touring and has been active to the present day.
